Ugandan Bitcoiner Wins Tickets To BTC Prague
Brindon Mwiine, the founder of Ugandan-based Bitcoin (BTC) platform Gorilla Sats, recently won tickets to the annual cryptocurrency conference BTC Prague after submitting a Twitter pitch detailing his efforts at driving adoption in East Africa. The wider Bitcoin community rallied behind him and funded his travel expenses through Geyser Fund, a BTC-based crowdfunding platform.
Mwiine’s Adoption Efforts In East Africa
Mwiine is passionate about building a budding Bitcoin community among Uganda’s student population and advocating for its use in everyday life. He had submitted a tweet as part of an official competition which called for individuals to share their stories on building circular economies in their respective countries. His pitch generated plenty of attention from across East Africa and eventually he emerged triumphant with two tickets for the conference in Prague.
Crowdfunding Campaign For Travel Expenses
After winning the competition, Mwiine then had three weeks to arrange flights, visas and other logistics to get him from Kampala (Uganda’s capital) all the way to Central Europe. The Bitcoin community came together once more and donated sats through Geyser Fund so that he could make it over there safely and attend the event without having to worry about covering all those costs himself.
The Journey To Prague
Upon arriving at BTC Prague, Mwiine spoke with Cointelegraph journalist Joe Hall about what it took for him to get there: “I had never flown before, never been on a plane, never been in Europe” he said; adding that it was overwhelming how much love and support he received throughout his journey – especially from people outside of Uganda who voted for him or contributed funds towards his travels via Geyser Fund.
Building A Secular Economy With Crypto In Uganda
As someone who has experienced first hand how powerful cryptocurrencies can be when it comes to making financial transactions easier while reducing friction points like fees or exchange rates – Mwiine is now more determined than ever before when it comes to pushing this revolution forward within Uganda’s borders: “It’s only going upwards [now]… There’s no stopping us.”
